FOR ARCHITECTS, BUILDERS & DEVELOPERS

Standard 2.15 compliance, without the large tank

Every new block of flats and social housing development in Scotland requires automatic fire suppression by law. We design water mist systems that meet Standard 2.15 without the floor area, plant space or programme risk a large sprinkler tank brings.

WHY SPECIFIERS CHOOSE MIST

Four things that show up on your programme

The arguments that matter on a development are rarely the ones in the brochure. These are the ones that affect your drawings, your floor area and your warrant.

No large tank means more sellable floor area

Every square metre given to a sprinkler tank is a square metre you don’t sell. Water mist runs off the mains.

Slimmer risers, easier coordination

Slim-bore pipework coordinates cleanly with M&E on a tight programme, with no oversized risers competing for shaft space.

One design, one sign-off

Your building control officer gets exactly what they expect — design documentation and Declarations of Conformity, right first time.

Already through your SSIP screening

We hold SMAS Worksafe accreditation, an SSIP-recognised scheme. If you screen subcontractors through SMAS, CHAS, SafeContractor or any other SSIP member scheme, we clear that bar before the first phone call.

DOCUMENTATION

The paperwork trail your verifier expects

Every design we hand over comes with the Declarations of Conformity your verifier will ask for at design stage, at final stage, and for the nozzle manufacturer’s fire tests. That is the same paperwork trail whether it is a six-unit infill site or a phased development of two hundred.

We are a west of Scotland business and we install directly across the west of Scotland, from the Highlands to the Solway. If you are running several sites across that patch, you get one specification and one point of contact, with our own team on site rather than a subcontractor three hours away. Outside that area, we provide design and specification support UK-wide.

FAQ

Common questions

Are you SSIP or SMAS accredited?

Yes. We hold SMAS Worksafe accreditation, one of the schemes recognised under the SSIP umbrella endorsed by the Health and Safety Executive. Because SSIP works on mutual recognition, our certificate is accepted by CHAS and SafeContractor without repeating the core assessment.

Is suppression a legal requirement for new-build flats in Scotland?

Yes. Buildings containing flats or maisonettes and social housing dwellings are named building types under Standard 2.15. It is a statutory requirement, not a specification choice.

What documentation do I need for building warrant?

Design documentation and Declarations of Conformity at design stage, at final stage, and for the nozzle fire tests. We provide all of it as standard.

Can water mist extend corridor travel distances?

No. That particular trade-off under BS 9991 is sprinkler-only, and we would rather tell you now than after you have drawn it. Water mist covers the large majority of other Standard 2.15 triggers.

Got a scheme on the board?

Send us the drawings at whatever stage they are at. We’ll tell you whether Standard 2.15 applies, whether mist is the right route, and what it does to your floor area.
