How Firesmart Mist Ltd collects, uses and protects your personal information.
Last updated: 10 September 2026
This website is operated by Firesmart Mist Ltd, a company registered in Scotland (company number SC589663) with its registered office at 102 Neilston Road, Paisley, PA2 6EN. Firesmart Mist Ltd is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.
This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it and the rights you have over it. It applies to this website and to enquiries you make to us by phone or email.
Information you give us. When you contact us to ask about a system, request a survey or request a quote, we collect the details you choose to provide. Typically that is your name, your phone number or email address, the address and type of the property, and any details about the building relevant to designing a suppression system.
Information collected automatically. As with most websites, our web server records technical information each time a page is requested, including the IP address making the request, the browser and device type, the pages viewed, and the date and time. We use the Wordfence security plugin, which processes this information to identify and block malicious traffic.
This site currently sets only cookies that are strictly necessary for it to function and to stay secure. We do not currently use advertising cookies and we do not currently run website analytics. If that changes we will update this policy and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent before any non-essential cookies are set.
Commenting is disabled across this website, so we do not collect comment content, commenter IP addresses or profile images.
We use the information above to respond to your enquiry and prepare a quote, to carry out and support an installation if you become a customer, to keep the website secure and available, and to keep the records we are required to keep for certification, insurance and tax purposes.
Our lawful bases under the UK GDPR are: taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and performing that contract once you become a customer; our legitimate interests in running and securing the website and in responding to enquiries; and compliance with our legal obligations where records must be retained.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for marketing purposes. We share it only with our website hosting and email providers, who process it on our behalf under contract, and with our professional advisers or a regulator where we are legally required to do so.
Where an enquiry does not lead to work, we keep the enquiry and our correspondence for up to 24 months so that we can pick the conversation back up if you return to us. Where you become a customer, we keep your records for the working life of the installed system plus six years, which reflects the period in which a claim could be brought and the period for which certification, insurance and tax records must be available.
Under the UK GDPR you have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have inaccurate information corrected, to ask us to delete information where we no longer have grounds to keep it, to ask us to restrict how we use it, to object to processing we carry out on the basis of legitimate interests, and to receive certain information in a portable format.
To exercise any of these rights, write to Firesmart Mist Ltd, 102 Neilston Road, Paisley, PA2 6EN, or use the contact details on our contact page. We will respond within one month.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
We review this policy whenever the way we collect or use information changes, and we will update the date at the top when we do.
